Kola B asked: I was wondering two things. First, what is the purpose of a credit check for employment at places like WalMart? I understand background checks, but a credit check? Also, if I do not have good credit, does that mean I cannot be hired for places like this? I just really don’t get the point of it if everything else is fine why a credit check matters. Please explain.

tehhund asked: How often do credit card companies report your revolving credit balance, and how long does that stay on your credit report?
For instance, if you have a high revolving credit balance and pay it all off one month (and stop using your credit cards for a few months), how long will it take for your credit score to improve based on your lower revolving debt balance?

love_earth22 asked: I am getting sick of my bad credit ruining everything I try to do. At this point I am finally able to pay off my debt in order to fix this problem. I have heard stories of people paying off their debt but the company leaving them as unpaid on their credit report. I DONT want this to happen. How do I go about paying everything off while making sure it is taken off my credit report for good? How long does it take your score to change after you paid everything off?

Andras asked: Well, the question is pretty straightforward. I know the credit takes a dive, but does it also mean that for 5-7 years (or forever) there will be a permanent blemish on my credit?
Thank you.
Thank you for the answers. The problem is I cannot continue paying, otherwise I would not be thinking about it. I lost my job in the US, and presently am enrolled in a graduate school working on my PhD in England… The stipend is not exactly high. So I really have limited options.

Ebubekir K asked: I got a letter from a credit card company saying that they have reduced my credit limit without any previous warning. Is there a limit to how often can they do this? Can they do it how ever many times they wish? For example, once every six months/year?
Also, Is there any way to see it coming?
The letter is not the warning because when i get the letter, the limit change is already in effect.

Bear E asked: I would like to settle a few closed credit accounts that have been charged off and bought out by debt collectors. The collection agency is offering me a discounted rate to pay off this account. If I choose this option, will my credit report eventually show this account closed and paid off, as stated by the agency?

SMH asked: I talking about excellent credit with atleast five years of credit history, no blemishes what soever, and someone with a high credit rating. I am just kind of wondering what kind of offers does good credit get you, especially compared to people with bad credit? What kind of APR can you get with bad credit, overdue accounts in the history, poor credit, and a short credit history?
I am just curious as to how much of an advantage is it to have a good credit history?

If there are any credit card companies that process as fast as using a debit card, please let me know, Thanks

piper32_95037 asked: I recently was denied a credit because of “Few revolving accounts opened long enough to establish credit history.” I do not and WILL not apply or own a credit card. What is the easiest way(s) to improve my credit without a credit card? Best answer will be given to the person with the best references.
